Proselenos is all about ebooks for readers and writers.

It now offers an ereader (similar to Readest) for EPUB's, and for authors: a suite of editing and writing tools via AI models at OpenRouter. 

The app is free to use, forever!

The only costs involved are if you as a writer choose to use the AI models offered by OpenRouter (via your API key) for editing and writing. However, there are many free models available on OpenRouter.

Also, the app is now 100% local storage right in your web browser, no cloud storage.
Your files stay with you!

The app is free to use, forever!
The only costs involved are if you as a writer choose to use the AI models offered by OpenRouter (via your API key) for editing and writing. However, there are many free models available on OpenRouter.

Otherwise, it's totally free for readers to:
1. use the best EPUB (ebook) reader ever
2. collect ebooks directly in your web browser or app storage
3. copy to clipboard & Notebook, annotate, search,
     dictionary, wikipedia, and speak (TTS to read aloud)
4. scroll vertically for reading or 2 page scroll sideways
5. fully customizable typography
6. download ebooks from the Proselenos Bookstore
. . . and for writers it is free to:
1. convert .docx and .epub files to .txt (plain text files)
2. extract comments from .docx file (like human editor comments)
3. import .docx file and convert to .txt
4. export .txt file as a .txt download
5. use the Publishing feature to convert a manuscript (.txt) file into:
     EPUB - a .epub file which may be put in the Proselenos Bookstore to 
                       share with other readers
     PDF - an Amazon KDP print ready .pdf file with the 
                   embedded EB Garamond font

* Note: both EPUB and PDF creation have been tested and 
                 published without errors on:
                 Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and Draft2Digital.
                 For example, I used Proselenos for my book Ovid's Tenth ... see:
                 Amazon or Bookshop.org or B&N or Kobo or Walmart                 
                 ... they are the usual DRM lock in device/cloud crowd,
                 but also more openly as a DRM-free .epub download at:
                 itch.io (PWYW) or Smashwords or Payhip

Proselenos has been released as an online web app replacement of StoryGrind. 

While the web app is much the same as StoryGrind, it now only uses OpenRouter for all AI tasks. 

It's still free, well, the app is, but not the AI usage. However, there are  free usage AI models on OpenRouter, and you can also BYOK (bring-your-own-key) from other providers. 

It still only allows a sign in with Google and uses your Google Drive for storage. 

New features include: 

• direct upload of Word (.docx) files, removes images, into a .txt file on Drive
• ... and:
• read aloud one-sentence-at-a-time text-to-speech (TTS) in the Editor

Proselenos, what's that mean?     🤷🏼‍♀️
It might be writing prose under the pale moonlight, or stories told before the moon existed, or it's just prose + moon (Selene) like some ancient Greek goddess of writing.

StoryGrind -- for thoroughly editing your entire manuscript

After decades of getting lost in amazing books, I wanted to give something back to the writing community. As a programmer who enjoys good writing, I built StoryGrind - a free AI-powered tool that helps authors, writers, and editors polish their manuscripts.

No company behind it. No investors. No hidden costs or premium tiers. Only pay your chosen AI provider's usage fees.

Personally, I have averaged about $15 per 60,000 word manuscript using Claude Sonnet's with a touch of Opus.  Compare that cost to pro editors, while AI's still can not write (creatively) they excel at editing given the 'next level' prompts provided in StoryGrind.
